Forgive Yourself

Tip 351

Forgive Your Mate

It’s often hard to let go of regrets. Somehow we feel that we don’t deserve to forgive ourselves or someone we love who hurts us.

from Clipart.com

It’s as if those regrets were a suitcase filled with cinder blocks we had to carry around our necks.

Our posture would not be erect. Our shoulders would droop. Our necks would become so enlarged that they would soon not be in proportion to our bodies—all because of carrying excess weight of un-forgiveness. Even minor un-forgiveness eats away at our physical bodies, mental capacities, and spiritual health.

Of course, we’re not talking about overlooking things that are harmful, illegal, or immoral.

Forgiveness rarely happens with one simple statement. It’s something you have to keep telling yourself over and over.

If un-forgiveness creeps into your life, then pray and work to get through it. If you have un-forgiveness and regrets, then focusing on all the fun imaginable in a marriage will only mask a problem that still festers underneath.

What do you think? How do you work to forgive yourself or someone you love?
