What’s Your Focus

One of my favorite sayings is a paraphrase, as I remember it, from Leo Tolstoy’s book, War and Peace.*

In the book a wealthy doctor was sent to prison during the Bolshevik revolution. Yet, this doctor was always cheerful and had a bright outlook for each day. Another prisoner finally asked him, “You have education; you had wealth, power, and position, yet you have nothing now with no hopes for the future. How can you be so joyful and cheerful?”

The doctor relegated to prison life responded, “Sometimes you can think too much about life and miss the enjoyment of it.”

Do you think too much about life and miss the fun and enjoyment in your marriage?

If you have thoughts you’d like to share, we’d love to hear them in the comment section below.

*I used quotation marks, but the words were only paraphrased from my memory of reading the book eons ago. Shame on me for not wanting to re-read the several hundred pages again.
