Where Do You Find Happiness

Tip # 54

It’s Not Where You’re Looking

If you keep looking for happiness, you won’t find it.

Happiness is nothing that can be found.

If you have the idea “if only . . .” then you may feel happy while all your circumstances are perfect, but those circumstances change.

Happiness is how you look at things, how you look at each other, how you look at yourself. Happiness doesn’t flow from the outside to the inside. Happiness comes from the inside. It’s what you make of every moment in your life. Tragic things happen, and we won’t be happy about what’s happened, but the person you are inside and how you react defines happiness.

Happiness is also fleeting. It comes and goes depending on our mood—though we work hard to keep our mood happy.

There is a difference in the word joy and the word happiness. Joy is what you should aim for in personal life. Joy comes from knowing you are not alone; you can trust your Heavenly Father no matter what your eyes see; you were created to be special and to be loved and to love. When you have joy, you’ll make a much better spouse.
