Ditch the Bar

Sit at a Table to Make Eye Contact

Ditch the bar in your kitchen that’s designed for working and grabbing a quick bite to eat. Eating while sitting at the bar makes conversation and eye contact more difficult when you both sit on bar stools facing one way. Plus, meals served this way seem like they are meant to rush through.

For as many meals as possible (preferably at least once a day), sit at a table so that you create the nuance that your time with each other is important–of course, it should be real and not just nuance.

Mealtime is a great place to share the good things that happened each day. It’s not the best time to bring up all the negativity of the day because meal time coupled with negative conversation can cause the digestion system not to function so well.

Sitting next to each other in a restaurant is often cozier because it’s easy to keep conversation tone quieter.

Meal time in your marriage should be for relaxing, sharing, and enjoying one another’s company–oh, and enjoying the meal.
